Studying has always been the agony of many students, especially the college students. They have been drowned to many extra curricular activities, projects and many case studies for some. In the scale of 1-10, I could reassure that studying would have the lowest rating on the scale in terms of the level of importance. Why is it so?
For most of the students, they would consider studying as a bother for their "important" errands. They would argue, "Why do we have to re-read those things for the second time around?" As a matter of fact, students who hated studying would opt for a last minute scanning of their notes before start of an examination. As what I have read from various journals and websites, this phenomenon is very true to those that have a short-term memory. These people easily forget what they have read in a span of 2-7 days. Many researchers have devised ways on how to prolong their memory which would help them remember what they have studied a night before or even a week before. I, myself, belong to these people who have a short-term memory. Just recently, I discovered how brilliant our brain is. I figured how to effectively recall what I have studied a night before.
We people would always linger to those very significant events in our life as if that memory happened in a slow-motion manner that you could observe everything around you. In fact, people who survived accidents (if not in a state of amnesia) could recall vividly the event. It is because that event is the turning point of their life; one of the significant event per say. Thus, an idea came into me. Why not do a very significant event every time you study or consider studying as a very significant event? I've tried to test it by eating for the first time a certain brand of chocolate (I'm addicted to chocolates) while reading my notes and re-read it again for the second time. On the day of my examination, which is 2 days after I studied, I tried to recall the taste of that chocolate and what I have studied as well. True enough, I remembered what I have read. Although, I did not remembered it completely, the result that I've got was not bad.
This type of technique may require a lot of practice. The bottom-line here is that results would always depend on the person itself. This is just a technique. A technique would not guarantee success, rather it serves as a guide to success. :))
